About the Lecture
A National STI Policy
Milestone

The 2026 Inaugural STI Public Lecture is the STI Business Forum's flagship intellectual and policy-engagement event, designed as a landmark occasion in South Africa's science, technology and innovation calendar.

Presented in strategic partnership with Mail & Guardian, the Lecture will convene approximately 400 delegates from business, government, academia and civil society around the national theme: A University Public-Private Partnership Model for the Future.

The event also marks the official public launch of the STI Business Forum as a nationally significant policy advocacy organisation, while advancing the proposed Ekurhuleni University of Applied Science and Innovation as a model dual-education university with a strong industry and entrepreneurial orientation.

According to the concept note, the Lecture is intended to move beyond discussion into action through published proceedings, a structured STI policy brief, post-event media coverage, sponsor reporting, and a formal commitments register that extends the event's impact beyond the day itself.
